Doris J. Polowczuk

Doris J. Polowczuk, age 86, of Norristown, PA passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026.

She was born in Egg Harbor Twp., New Jersey on February 1, 1940, the daughter of the late Valentine and Catherine (Gulunas) Gilson.

Doris has been living in Norristown for 20 years, formerly of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. She had a long career as a Nurse, first at Chestnut Hill Hospital and later at Fairview Nursing Home. She also owned and operated the former Posey Patch in the Plymouth Meeting Mall. She enjoyed arts and crafts, as well as puzzles and traveling.

She was the wife of the late Edward Polowczuk.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph (Jill) Polowczuk of Lafayette Hill and Timothy (Christa) Polowczuk of Douglassville; and brother, James (Jane) Gilson of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by nine grandchildren as well as great grandchildren and her dear friend, Geraldine Federal.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Steven and Michael Polowczuk; and three brothers George, Edward and Robert Gilson.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:30 AM from McIlvaine Mundy Funeral Home & Crematory, 7384 Ridge Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19128.

Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home.

Interment will take place in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
