Edward J. Aversa, age 95, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 11, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Laura (Segletes) Aversa.

Ed lived most of his life in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia and was a longtime parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was an avid Phillies fan and enjoyed gardening. He also enjoyed big band and jazz music. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.

He was a proud veteran, serving during the Korean War as a member of the Chosin Few of the United States Marine Corps.

He was the husband of the late Rose (Mariello) Aversa.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Robert) Carson of Collegeville and Rosemarie (Tom) Cockill of Collegeville; son, Edward (Mary Ellen) Aversa of Roxborough; six grandchildren, Dana (Philip) Roche, Joseph Aversa, Christopher Carson, Alison (Joseph) Rosansky, Jonathan Carson and Tommy Cockill; and four great grandchildren, Riley, Remi, Jake and Ella. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Along with his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Aversa, Dorothy Joyce, Elizabeth Crocco, James A. Aversa and Gene Aversa.

His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM from Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church, 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Monday morning from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church.

Interment will take place on Tuesday, September 9 at 10:00 AM in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
