Ellen M. Soda

Ellen M. Soda, age 71, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, January 9, 2026 in her home after a decade long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 27, 1954, the daughter of the late Francis and Loretta (Hilferty) Deely. 

Ellen lived most of her life in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia and was a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist RC Church. She had a career as a Radiologic Technologist at Roxborough Memorial Hospital where she worked for over 40 years. Ellen had an amazing green thumb, enjoyed gardening and tending to plants around her home. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Jeopardy every night. Ellen loved spending as much time as she could with her 4 grandchildren. She was the kindest soul and a friend to many. She will be dearly missed. 

She is survived by three children, Doreen (Steve) Davis of Collegeville, William F. Soda, Jr. of Roxborough and Emily (Ian) Janoski of King of Prussia; brother, Dennis (Colleen) Deely of Abington; and sister, Joan (Brian) Coyne of Springfield. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Jay Soda, Luke Davis, Ellie Janoski and John Janoski; the father of her children, William F. Soda, Sr., as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:00 AM from St. John the Baptist RC Church, 119 Rector Street, Philadelphia, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Church prior to Mass. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA.
