Genevieve E. Devenney

Genevieve E. Devenney, “Jane”, age 87, of Philadelphia, PA passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 3, 1938, the daughter of the late Frederick and Genevieve (McNichol) Farrell.

She was a longtime resident of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary RC Church. She enjoyed reading and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially at Sunday dinners and holidays.

She was predeceased by her husband, John J. (Jack) Devenney, Jr. and her son, John Devenney, III.

She is survived by five children, Joseph Devenney, James (Kathy) Devenney, Kenneth (Lisa) Devenney, Judith (Ken) Fogarty, Matthew (Cindy) Devenney; daughter in-law, Lisa Devenney; and sister, Kathleen Webster. 

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, Danielle Devenney (Joe), Dominique Devenney (Liz), John Devenney, Joe (Kelly) Devenney, Brian Devenney, Kellie Devenney (Pat), Kenny Devenney, Keith Devenney, Colin Devenney (Mercy), Cara (Joe) Kenny, Christina (Jim) Gordon, Ken Fogarty Jr., Kevin Fogarty, Deanna (Brandon) Boyce, Lauren Devenney and Molly Devenney; as well as nine great grandchildren.

Her Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 10:30 AM from Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128. Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing on Friday morning from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM at the Church.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, West Conshohocken, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Shriners Hospital For Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
