Joseph Francis Seserko, Jr., 79, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 21, 2026, after a lengthy illness, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Philadelphia on August 28, 1946, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Lucy Seserko. A lifelong Philadelphian, he built a life defined by hard work, devotion to family, generosity, and quiet strength.  On September 2, 1967, Joe married the love of his life, Carol Anne. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage, building a family that became the center of his world. While he took pride in many accomplishments throughout his life, nothing brought him greater joy than being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Joe dedicated nearly three decades of service to the City of Philadelphia as a firefighter. Appointed to the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1973, he served with honor until his retirement in 2001. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed carpentry and working with his hands.

He was known for his generosity, his willingness to help others, and for offering the kind of fatherly advice that family members often came to appreciate even more with time. He loved spending time at the shore with his family, creating memories that remain among their most cherished.

Joe faced his illness with remarkable determination and courage. Even during difficult times, he demonstrated the strength and resilience that characterized his entire life.

He was the beloved husband of Carol Anne; devoted father of Dawn (Scott Shuster) and Angie (Erin); proud Pop of Allison, Alexandria, and Abigail; and cherished Dziadzia of Kyrie James.

He is also survived by his brothers, Paul, Ray (Peg), and Donald (Lisa), as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. As the eldest of four brothers, Joe held a special place within his family throughout his life.

More than anything, Joe will be remembered for the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he adored, the values he instilled, and the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know him.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday, June 25, 2026 from 9 AM to 10:15 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 819 E. Cathedral Road, Philadelphia, PA 19128. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 AM.

Interment will take place immediately following the Mass at Westminster Cemetery, 701 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004.
