Marjorie A. Janoski, age 76, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 30, 2026.

Marge was born in Bethlehem, PA, on January 23, 1950, the daughter of the late George and Marjorie (Bachman) Janoski. Marge lived in the Germantown-Mt Airy section of Philadelphia for most of her adult life, buying her beloved home in 1978.

Marge earned her undergraduate degree from Cedar Crest College of Allentown and went on to earn her J.D. from Rutgers Law School (Camden). Marge was a gifted and dedicated public interest attorney who spent her entire legal career, over 40 years, at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia. Most of that career was in CLS's Family Advocacy Unit representing clients fighting for their parental rights. In 2005, Marge won the Pennsylvania Legal Services Excellence Award for her work in expanding access to justice through her advocacy. She mentored many young attorneys who went on to have successful careers. Marjorie retired early in order to spend time with her granddaughter, Kavya, who was her life’s greatest joy.

Marge is survived by her daughter, Katharine Janoski (Alex Varghese) of Philadelphia; granddaughter, Kavya Marjorie; sisters Barbara Janoski (Russell Fitzgerald) of Allentown and Joyce Holland of Florida; as well as nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Fitzgerald, Meghan Fitzgerald, Kathleen Pratt, Daniel Holland, and Daniel Fitzgerald.

Interment will be private.

The family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date.
